Trilingual in English, French and Spanish, we run a small dive shop in Tamarindo and welcome travelers from all over the world, adapting every session to your comfort, goals and pace. No rushed schedules, just small, fully private groups and our full attention.

Rising from the Pacific just north of Tamarindo, the Catalina Islands channel cool, nutrient-rich currents that feed an extraordinary concentration of marine life across more than twenty pinnacles and reefs.
From December to May, giant Pacific manta rays glide through the islands, joined year-round by spotted eagle rays, white-tip reef sharks, sea turtles, moray eels, octopus and huge schools of tropical fish. Warm, clear water and gentle profiles make it ideal for first dives and unforgettable for the experienced.
A UNESCO-protected reserve off Santa Rosa National Park, one of the few places on Earth with regular, unbaited bull shark encounters.
Islas Murciélago sit within the Marine Sector of SINAC's Área de Conservación Guanacaste, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where depth and current call for real diving experience.
Unbaited bull sharks gather naturally at a cleaning station here, alongside healthy reef structure and the occasional eagle ray. It's a step up from our other sites, reserved for certified Advanced Open Water divers.

We booked a discover scuba dive with salty horizon and we're beyond satisfied. Our guide Camille was super kind and overall had a great energy! She made sure that we get all the knowledge we need in the ocean before she was taking us under water. The dive spots that we were going to have been amazing and offered us the chance to see a lot of different animals. We felt very safe with her and when I had some troubles with my ears on the second dive she stayed with me the whole time and only took us down deeper once I was feeling a 100% comfortable again, which took some time. At all times I felt that she took very good care of us. The gear has also been in a perfect condition. Bonus was that she took a lot of cool videos of the marine life and us which have been included in the price. I would highly recommend diving with them!
Today my wife and I did our second ever dive. It was a quite spontaneous decision, but Camille put in the effort to make it work anyway. And we could not be more happy that we had the chance to do it with her! She and her boyfriend Julien are both very warm-hearted and friendly people that made us feel in good hands right away. The equipment was in a good shape and it felt like our safety was always the top priority! Still we were able to get some good time under water and saw some amazing wildlife! A fever of devil rays was definitely the highlight. But we also spotted many other small and larger fish (some even in larger schools), octopus, different species of moray eels and a white tipped reef shark! Another thing that I want to highlight is, that you get photos and videos of your dive included with the price. This is something we have not really seen with any other provider. Most of the time they will charge you extra or don't even take videos. We would highly recommend diving with salty horizon if you ever have the chance. It was just amazing!

We had an incredible diving experience with this dive center. From start to finish, everything was well organized and professional. I was absolutely terrified before my first scuba dive, and I honestly wasn't sure I would even make it into the water. Camille was incredibly patient, calm, and reassuring from the very beginning. We are so grateful for our experience at Salty Horizon Diving. We are a family of 5 (kids age 11 - 17), two of us experienced divers. The three kids are new divers and Camille did a wonderful job of introducing (and re-introducing them to diving). We've only had custody of our 17 year old adopted daughter for a little over a year now and this is her first time experiencing new places, experiences and new people. Our children (11 and 14) have grown up loving the ocean, but for our 17 year old, this is all new. She's now part of our adventurous family which can be intimidating; however, Camille was so positive, radiant and always smiling so our adopted daughter had 0 nerves. We have 16 years to make up for with her and I can safely say, this is an experience she will never forget, which would have never been possible without Camille's attention to detail and way with new divers and kids. In fact, she later said Camille inspired her to travel and experience the world. It was about so much more than just diving. Also, my husband and I are divers and were hesitant about diving in Costa Rica but Camille assured us it would be great, and it was. We are so grateful for Camille and our experience with Salty Horizon Diving. We highly recommend!
Absolutely incredible experience with Salty Horizon! We had amazing visibility and were lucky enough to see a manta ray, which was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica. Camille made us feel safe and comfortable the entire time and never rushed the dives. It felt very personal and private compared to the bigger dive boats we've been on before. Would 100% dive with them again!

We did the trip to Catalina Island and had two amazing dives with Julien. It was all included and we also got really cool pictures and videos of the dives. We can highly recommend to dive with Camille and Julien and we would come back anytime.
No certification is required for the Discover Scuba Diving experience. After a private briefing with a PADI instructor and some required skills practice, you complete two guided dives, 45 minutes to 1 hour each, from age 10 and up.
The Open Water Diver course starts at $540 and runs over 3 days, including e-learning, certification fees, all equipment, and snacks and drinks.
Yes. The Bat Islands are accessible from May to November and are known for bull shark sightings. This dive is for certified Advanced Open Water divers only.
Yes. Camille and Julien are trilingual and teach and guide in English, French and Spanish.
Yes, for the Discover Scuba Diving, Open Water and Advanced Open Water courses you need to confirm you are medically fit to dive; a medical form is available to download and must be completed before the course.
