PADI certification in Costa Rica: the short answer
Getting PADI Open Water certified with us takes 3 days and starts at $540: e-learning at home before you travel, one pool session, then 4 ocean dives at the Catalina Islands, a 40-minute boat ride from Tamarindo. Every course is private, so it is just you (or the people you came with) and your instructor, and the pace follows you rather than a group schedule. Already certified? Advanced Open Water starts at $500 and takes 2 or 3 days.

Before we meet, please complete your PADI e-learning.
Day 1: Flexible hours / Approx. 4 hours
- Theory knowledge review
- Pool session and scuba skills practice
Day 2: 6:45am to 12:00pm
- Open Water Dives 1 & 2 at Las Catalinas
- Approx. 40-minute boat ride
Day 3: 6:45am to 12:00pm
- Open Water Dives 3 & 4 at Las Catalinas

Open Water Diver
Starting at $540
Ready to become a certified diver? The PADI Open Water Diver course is your first full scuba certification, designed to teach you the essential skills, safety procedures, and confidence needed to dive independently with a buddy up to 18 meters / 60 ft.
This 3-day course includes theory, 1 pool session, and 4 open water dives. During the course, you will learn how to use scuba equipment, control your buoyancy, manage basic underwater situations, and explore the ocean safely under the guidance of a PADI instructor.

Certification
Advanced Open Water Diver
Starting at $500
Already certified as a PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent? The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is designed to sharpen your skills, build your confidence, and expand your depth limit to 30m / 100 ft.
The course includes a short theory section and 5 adventure dives.
You will complete two mandatory specialty dives: Deep Diving and Underwater Navigation.
You will also choose three elective specialty dives, such as Boat Diving, Search and Recovery, Drift Diving, Fish Identification, Peak Performance Buoyancy, or Night Diving.
