A Day at Sea, Made Entirely Yours
In partnership with Playgrounds: diving, surfing, whale watching and more, aboard one private boat.
Plan My Day at Sea

This isn't a dive trip. It's your day on the Pacific.
Salty Horizon has spent years guiding divers through the reefs and pinnacles off Tamarindo. Playgrounds has spent years building the kind of boat you actually want to spend a day on. Together, we do something neither of us could do alone: hand you a full day at sea with nothing fixed about it except the ocean itself.
Dive if you want to dive. Surf if the swell looks right. Watch for whales, chase a pod of dolphins, or find a quiet stretch of water and do nothing at all. The itinerary is yours. We're just the crew that knows exactly where to take you.
Local expertise
Years guiding divers through these waters, plus Captain Pete's 15+ years navigating this coast.
Safety
Professional crew and PADI-trained dive guides on a boat built for real conditions, not just calm days.
Flexibility
No fixed itinerary. Change plans mid-day if the conditions or the mood change.
Personalization
Built around your group, not a set tour. Every charter starts with what you actually want to do.

Room to spread out, room to disappear
Playgrounds is a 51-foot private catamaran, built for exactly this kind of day: wide open deck space for sunbathing or watching the horizon, a shaded cockpit when the sun gets high, and a genuinely comfortable interior, with three cabins and three bathrooms, if anyone wants to disappear for a while.
Captain Pete has navigated this stretch of the Pacific for more than 15 years, and his crew takes care of the boat so you don't have to think about it. This isn't a boat trying to impress you with excess. It's simply a very good, very private boat, for exactly as many people as you bring.

One Boat, Endless Possibilities
Every guest can spend the day differently. Mix and match, or let everyone choose their own adventure.
An Ocean That's Actually Alive
Every trip out is different, because the ocean doesn't run on a schedule. Some days it's a pod of dolphins riding the bow wave. Other days a sea turtle surfaces alongside the boat, or a humpback whale breaches somewhere off the bow. Underwater, the reefs hold eagle rays, whitetip sharks, moray eels, octopus and schools of fish that move like one enormous animal. Nothing here is staged, and nothing is guaranteed. That's exactly what makes it worth going out looking.

One Boat, No Compromises
Private charters solve a problem every mixed group runs into: not everyone wants to do the same thing. On Playgrounds, the divers in your group can go down to the reef while the rest snorkel above them or paddle board nearby. Kids can swim off the back of the boat while the adults fish off the bow.
Non-divers get just as full a day as certified divers. There's always something to do, and just as much room to do nothing. It's the version of a family trip, a group of friends, or a couple's day out where nobody has to sit one out.
